Benefits of Tomatoes
Some say tomatoes are a fruit and some say they’re vegetables. I don’t really care except that they are super healthy either way. The added benefit of consuming large amounts of this fruit/vegetable is that they are not only good for you; they are also good for the man in your life. They help to prevent prostate cancer! In addition to that, you may want to consider more benefits. Here is a list: • They protect your skin from sunburn.
• Those who eat large amounts will have more collagen in their skin which prevents sagging.
• Reports indicate if you consume large amounts you will notice fewer wrinkles.
• They are low in calories and high in fiber.
• They lower your chances of getting heart disease.
• You can cook with them by exchanging your creamy, buttery sauces for a nice light red sauce.
Health Tip: If you want to cut calories and add goodness and nutrients, replace all your creamy sauces with a flavorful tomato sauce. If you eat a lot of creamy sauces and you replace them all, don't be surprised if you find yourself losing a bit of weight! Lycopene is a carotene antioxidant and it is more active in processed products such as ketchup. I guess I won't stop my daughters from pouring it on everything. The more red and ripe it is, the higher its content of lycopene. You’ll notice in my recipes for menopause that I love to cook with them. It is such a smart way to add flavor and sauces without the calories or cholesterol. Here's a great recipe for tomato soup.
