Tender Breasts: The Untouchables

During the years leading up to menopause, many women notice tender breasts. Either it lasts longer, or it is more intense than when they were simply experiencing premenstrual syndrome.

This is usually due to the erratic hormone shifts that occur during perimenopause. Women who have too much estrogen and not enough progesterone to counterbalance it experience breast tenderness more often.

Treatment

Of course, there is always natural remedies to help you with this. If you don’t wish to go this route, or if you do, and you still want to reduce your reliance on natural remedies, you should follow the menopausal diet I am recommending on this site.

In particular you’ll need to reduce your caffeine intake, sugar intake, processed foods and over-eating (overweight women tend to have more problems with estrogen dominance). You’ll also need an adequate intake of Vitamin B and Omega-3 fats.

I have a few delicious recipes that include these nutrients and soy which is so beneficial for menopausal symptoms, and your general health. Every week I am adding new healthful menopausal recipes to this site. Come back often to have a look, or better yet, subscribe to the RSS feed on the upper left hand corner of this site for regular updates.

The other biggie contributor of breast tenderness is too much alcohol. Alcohol is known to increase your estrogen and throw off your progesterone/estrogen balance. This causes breast tenderness. How much alcohol is too much? Women shouldn't drink more than 4 drinks a week. By the way, drinking too much alcohol also increases your chances of getting breast cancer (research proven).

If your man has boob-envy and he secretly desires to have a pair of man-boobs to fondle any time he wishes (also affectionately called moobs), I recommend he drinks more than 7 alcoholic beverages a week to increase his estrogen. It works!

Conclusion

The good news is that once you reach full menopause you will no longer experience breast tenderness. But your man, if he followed my advice, will still have his moobs.
