8th Golden Rule for a Flat Belly: Eat 2-3 perfect healthy snacks every day

8th Golden Rule for a Flat Belly: Eat 2-3 perfect, healthy snacks every day

You must have already heard the advice that if you want to lose weight, you will need to eat 5 to 6 meals a day. Start with breakfast (always), add a second meal by 10:30am, third meal at 12 etc.

In my mind, a meal and a snack are two totally different things. So, I would like to clarify this common advice: You should eat 3 moderate meals a day, and you should eat 2-3 perfect, healthy snacks a day.

You want your snack to be diet-friendly and reasonably satisfying to keep your energy on an even keel. A perfect snack will prevent you from over-eating at your next meal.

The ingredients for a perfect snack include fiber, fluid and healthy proteins. People tend to think about eggs and meats when adding protein to their diets.

List A: There are better alternatives for your protein snacks which include:

• A small handful of Almonds
• A tablespoon of Almond butter
• A tablespoon of Peanut butter
• A small handful of Peanuts
• A small handful of Walnuts or pumpkin seeds
• ½ cup Low-fat yogurt
• A thumb length of Low-fat cheese
• A small handful of Flaxseeds (thrown into a fresh fruit smoothie)
• Hummus

List B: For your fiber and fluid portion of your snack include:

• An apple
• Carrots
• Broccoli florets
• Celery
• A pear
• A peach
• A small handful of grapes
• A Kiwi
• Cucumber slices

Include an ingredient from List A with an ingredient from List B, add a glass of cold, refreshing water and you have the perfect snack to keep your blood sugar levels steady and your energy up.

These are just some of my favorite options, of course, there are many more. Once you know the fiber, fluid and protein rule for your snacks, you can become as creative as you want to be.
