The Benefit of an Apple
An apple a day truly does keep the doctor away. Although I don’t believe there’s any benefit in keeping your doctor away, I do believe in the healing power of this magnificent fruit. They contain high levels of various plant chemicals which have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory action. They are also a valuable source of pectin, a soluble fiber that can help lower bad cholesterol and help prevent colon cancer. A huge added bonus is that research has shown that adults who eat this lovely fruit have smaller waistlines, less abdominal fat, and lower blood pressure than those who don't. They are also fat-free, and salt-free. • They are loaded with antioxidants. Do I have to remind you that antioxidants prevent cancer?
• They protect you against the UVB sun rays.
• Studies prove that eating two or more a week reduces your risk of dying from heart disease.
• They provide loads of fiber which helps to make you feel satisfied and keeps your waist line looking great.
• They are great for your bowels; they help them to move along those nasty toxins out of your system.
• They reduce your chance of getting bowel cancer.
• They’re delicious.
Anything that you eat that is good for your general health will also help to reduce your menopausal symptoms. Crunch away! Cortland, Monroe and Golden Delicious offer the greatest protection. I suggest you eat the peel because it’s the greatest source of nearly all the antioxidants. Don’t forget to triple wash them.
