Clark County Judge dismisses HT Lawsuit

In this article dated February 19, 2010, it states Nevada was the first of multiple states to file a lawsuit over the marketing of hormone therapy. The lawsuit claimed the hormone treatments posed "substantial health risk with little or no corresponding benefit." The state claimed the drug companies violated the Nevada Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The case was dismissed because the four-year statute of limitations had expired. In other words, the case was dismissed on a technicality.

I quote from the article: "Nevada was the first of multiple states to file a lawsuit over the marketing of hormone therapy drugs, but some states don't have a statute of limitations on these claims.

The drug companies were accused of selling hormone replacement therapy drugs, including Premarin, Cycrin and Prempro, to women coping with menopause symptoms, such as mood swings, hot flashes and night sweats."

Conclusion

I feel for all those women who now suffer from breast or ovarian cancer, heart attacks, strokes and autoimmune diseases because they took the wrong hormone.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-hormone replacement therapy. But I agree with Dr. Christiane Northrup and countless other who say hormone replacement therapy needs to be prescribed in the right dose, with the right mix of hormones, for the right woman, with the right symptoms, and for no longer than absolutely necessary. The normal menopausal transition with mild to moderate symptoms that are tolerable does not need hormone replacement therapy, and simply the risks outweigh the good for these women. This is contrary to what the drug companies would have liked us to believe.
