Blueberry Smoothie
Blueberry Smoothie I love making a smoothie in the blender because I can throw in any leftover fruit (even if it's slightly old)I happen to have in the fridge. Please substitute the ingredients with any fruit you have available. I think most of us all ready know that blueberries are the richest source of antioxidants. They help prevent memory loss, fight chronic degenerative diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, muscular degeneration, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. What a great little nugget provided for us from nature itself. Who needs medication when we can get so much natural goodness right in our grocery store? The information that we as perimenopausal and menopausal women are particularly interested in is that the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry also found that blueberries help prevent osteoporosis! That's great news. I think I'll include a few more blueberry recipes on this site. By the way, it is always better to eat the whole berry rather than just drinking the juice. I buy them frozen so they're readily available. If you drink orange juice that's fortified with Calcium and Vitamin D you'll help your bones. Yoghurt will keep any yeast infections out of your system as well as adding the necessary calcium. And banana's? They add plenty of fiber and other nutrients your body needs. Ingredients 2 cups blueberries 1/2 banana 1 cup orange juice (fortified with Calcium and Vitamin D) 1/2 cup plain yoghurt.
Method Blend all the ingredients. Add more or less orange juice according to the consistency you prefer. This blueberry smoothie has a beautiful color and you will just feel the goodness as it slides down your throat.
